  1. Ensure that you have the following details:
    • Day and date of the interview
    • Time
    • Address
    • Contact Details
    • Telephone Number
    • Duration of the interview
    • Interviewers' names and positions
    • Type of interview (Structured, Panel, Group); Format (Q&A, Business Simulation, Test, or presentation)
  2. If you have not received the information contact your consultant.
  3. Do some research, find information about the industry and / or company eg economic trends, new developments and company's achievements.
  4. Anticipating questions and preparing answers is a key part of preparing for and succeeding in interviews (behavioural questions, technical questions, common questions)
  5. Prepare some questions to ask the employer. Ask questions about the organisation and or the position.
  6. Know yourself; be familiar with everything in your resume and application. Determine what you want from the position. How will this position further your career development? Remember the interview process is an opportunity for both parties to gain an understanding of each other.
  7. Think about your strengths and weaknesses and how you will respond to potential questions.
  8. Employers often ask questions which focus on qualifications, work history, behaviours and aspirations. Think of some work-related examples where you were required to demonstrate your abilities, ie. with regards to management, crises management or customer service.
  9. Make a mental note of any achievements you can use to impress the employer. Do NOT exaggerate or boast. A simple statement is sufficient.
  10. Prepare another copy of your curriculum vitae to take to the interview.
  11. Draft a Compelling Selling Statement
