APESMA's National Assembly has approved the appointment of external directors for the board of ETM Placements. The move follows a decision by National Assembly to strengthen the range of expertise on the board and links with industry.
Meanwhile APESMA's former Chief Executive John Vines has been appointed as Chairman. Other APESMA nominees to the board include APESMA National President, Dario Tomat, as well as the ETM Placements Chief Executive, Neil Edwards.
The new external directors for ETM Placements are:
John Vines - Former Chief Executive, APESMA (Chairman). Chair of national Innovation and Business Industry Skills Council. Awarded Order of Australia Medal for services to education of professionals.
Ian Cordiner - Partner, Cordiner King executive search. Mr Cordiner is an engineer and has held senior roles in ANL, Henry Jones IXL and McKinsey.
Bill Jackson - Pricing Manager, ElectraNet Pty Ltd and National Vice President APESMA. Mr Jackson is an engineer with extensive experience in the South Australian power industry.
Loftus Harris - Mr Harris' previous roles include Director-General, Department of State and Regional Development, NSW. Director General, Queensland Department of the Premier, Trade and Economic Development, and as Australian Trade Commissioner in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Awarded Member of the Order of Australia Medal for services to economic and regional development in New South Wales, to the promotion of international trade and investment policies, and to the community.
David Lloyd - Chief Operating Officer of the Baker Heart Research Institute, and previously Chief Executive of Melbourne University Private. Prior roles include business development for the University of Tasmania and in trade development.
Alison Terry - Former Executive Director, Corporate Affairs, GM Holden Ltd. Ms Terry's earlier roles included private legal practice as well as corporate management.
Dario Tomat - Partner, Whetstone, and National President APESMA. Mr Tomat has worked previously in consulting and construction, in Tasmania Hydro and Tasmanian Premier and Cabinet and Economic Development.
Roger Lee - Director of Finance, APESMA, Company Secretary.
Neil Edwards - Chief Executive, Chifley Search & Selection.
Neil Edwards was appointed as Chief Executive, in February 2007.
Neil has more than 20 years experience in senior management and a longer-standing interest in management development.
As well as CEO of ETM Placements Neil is CEO of Chifley Business School and prior to these appointments Neilwas chairman of Port of Melbourne Corporation (PoMC), and also Commissioner of State Services Authority. He was appointed Executive Chairman of the (then) Melbourne Port Corporation in March 2003, and remained a Director of PoMC until he was appointed a Director of the Victorian Regional Channels Authority (VRCA) in January 2008 and Chairman in April 2008. Neil is also a Director of the MacFarlane Burnet Institute for Medical Research and Public Health.
From 1999 to March 2003, Neil was secretary and CEO of the Victorian Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development, with responsibilities for business, science, industrial relations, tourism and regional development. Neil joined the Victorian Government in 1996 as Executive Director, State Development Policy.
Between 1979 and 1996, Neil worked in the Australian Government, from 1994 to 1996 as Division Head in the then Department of Industry, Science and Tourism, but for most of the time with the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C), where he held several senior executive positions, including as Head of the Office of Multicultural Affairs, in social and cultural policy, and in corporate management.
In 1983-85, Neil served as Private Secretary to successive Australian Ministers for Finance. During 1989-90, he was seconded to the Government of Canada as an Officer of the Privy Council and later as Director-General, Policy, Health and Welfare Canada.
After qualifying in economics and politics, Neil taught politics for 4 years, first at Monash University and then at the University of New England. Neil is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Fellow of the Institute of Public Administration Australia.
